Barcelona FC were founded in 1899 and are one of the most supported teams in the world; they were one of the founder members of La Liga in 1929, which they have never been relegated from. Throughout the years Barcelona have had many prolific players – Mariano Martin with 97 goals in 112 games, Laszio Kubala who bagged 131 in 186 matches and Romario with 30 in 32 & although he only stayed for a year he went on to become the second most prolific goalscorer ever, netting over 1,000 goals. At the top of the pile though is Lionel Messi at only 5’6” tall; at the end of 2013/14 he had scored 354 goals in 425 appearance, breaking many records along the ways & will surely break some more records in the coming years as he’s still only 27.
Managers/teams
Pep Guardiola, a former player of more than ten years was Barcelona FC’s manager from 2008-2012. In 2009 he led them to an unprecedented Sextuple – winning six out of six competitions; every single tournament entered was won, and they nearly did it again in 2012 when they won five, narrowly missing out on the Copa del Ray when they were defeated in the final. Pep’s side was regarded by many as the greatest football team of all time.
